Your 2023 coverage checklist

Understand your benefits and how to use them.

Now is a good time to look at your 2023 health coverage to make sure you know how to access care and get the most out of your benefits. Use this checklist to help you understand your coverage for next year.

• Read your Evidence of Coverage

  Your Evidence of Coverage is an important document that gives you the legal, detailed description of your plan benefits. It explains the rights and the rules you need to follow to get covered services and prescription drugs. Another name for it is “Member Handbook.”

  The easiest way to access it is online through your Sharp Health Plan online account. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the website listed on the back of your Sharp Direct Advantage member ID card.
  2. Select “ Login.” You will be taken to your online account login page where you must enter your username and password.
  3. Once you are logged in, go to “My coverage documents” and your Evidence of Coverage, or Member Handbook, will be there.

  If you would like a printed copy mailed to you, please call Customer Care at the phone number listed on the back of your member ID card.

• Review your Annual Notice of Changes

  You should have received this in the mail in September. This notice tells you about the changes to your plan for next year. Any changes are listed in easy-to-read tables, showing side-by-side comparisons of this year and next year.

• Update your contact information

  Let us know if your email address, cell number or home phone number change in your online account. If you move to a new address, please update your information with Social Security at ssa.gov/myaccount or call Social Security at 1-800-772-1213.

• Download your Important contacts handout   *NEW!

  Keep the phone numbers for your added benefits all in one place with this convenient handout. Go to the Forms, guides and other resources page, then choose your section to get the handout for your specific plan.

  • CalPERS Medicare members: Head over to your Forms, guides and resources page on the Sharp Health Plan CalPERS website.
